Elliott Wan is a current student studying at the School of Creative Media, City University of Hong Kong. His fiery passion for producing music has lead him to write, record, and produce 2 EP’s in the past 24 months – “All We Had” (2018) released under his own name, and “Strange Lives” (2019), released with his band, Strange Lives.
Having no formal training in music production or song-writing, his ‘do-it-yourself’ ethic in writing and producing music has been recognized by local publications. Chris Gillette, writing for SCMP Young Post, praised the 5-track EP for its ‘meaty songwriting chops’, while Simon Donald Jones of The Underground HK believes Elliott is ‘writing songs of a quality way beyond their years…’ Production wise, New Ears Music commends the active use of synthesizers in the tracks, in addition to basic 3-piece instrumentation during the production of the EP.
When he’s not performing with his band or writing music, he is often seen at local events snapping photos and documenting musicians lost in their worlds.
Actively seeking to improve and polish his craft in music production, photography, cinematography, and writing, Elliott aims to accurately portray and turn his inner feelings, emotions, and thoughts into tangible objects and media through self-improvement and the interdisciplinary learning in the School of Creative Media. By doing so, he believe he can further connect and resonate with his audience.
Elliott’s favorite bands are Muse, Bring Me The Horizon, and Pale Waves.
